In MapInfo you can load several .TAB files and create one seemless table. You can do the same in QGIS for Raster layers by using a Virtual Raster (Calalog).

By default the virtual raster layer is loaded into the project upon completion.


In the above screenshot we have zoomed in to show the map in more details but notice that there is only one Layer VMD_TQ shown in the Layers box.
