Obtain an OS API key for base maps and other services

To use the services through the Astun Data Services that are powered by Ordnance Survey’s APIs or directly from the Ordnance Survey’s APIs you need to obtain an OS Data Hub API key for the services you wish to use.

To do this you need to create a Project in OS Data Hub and add to the Project the APIs you are going to use. Please note that only one key is generated per project and that API key will be the same for each one of the services you are going to use:

  • OS Maps API - Base maps

  • OS Features API - Feature Builder

  • OS Name API - Address Search

However we highly recommend creating separate Projects - hence unique keys - for each of your contractors and for any 3rd party system that you use.
