Configure iShare v6 to use the OpenData scales of OS Maps API

As we mentioned in the Overview Page we have updated the OS Open basemaps with the OpenData scales of the OS Maps API Road and OS Maps API Leisure style. The OS Open WMS service provides the following layers:

  1. OS Maps API Road Open

  2. OS Maps API Road Open (Grayscale)

  3. OS Maps API Leisure Open

  4. OS Maps API Leisure Open (Grayscale)

To configure the OS Open basemaps you can use the same MapFile (base_osmapsapi.map you used to configure the OS Maps API basemaps) and the OS Open MapSources we have prepared for you. You can find these files in this zip folder

  1. From the zip folder grab the MapFile called base_osmapsapi.map and place it under E:\iShareData\LIVE\_MapServerConfig\

  2. From the zip folder grab the OS Road Open MapSource called base_osmapsapi_open_wms.xml and place it under D:\Astun\iShareGIS\LIVE\WebApps\WebService\config\mapsources

  3. After placing the files into the correct destinations, open Studio and import the MapSource under the BaseMaps node:

    1. Right-click on the BaseMaps node and select Import MapSource

    2. Navigate to the directory in which you placed the OS Open Road MapSource, open it, and give it an appropriate name such as OS Open in Studio:

  4. After the import, you will notice that everything is prefilled for you, leave everything as is:

  5. Add the base map to a MyMaps MapSource, save and test that the base map is displaying correctly:

  6. Follow the same procedure for the rest of the OS Open MapSources:

    1. base_osmapsapi_open_grayscale_wms.xml

    2. base_osmapsapi_open_raster_wms.xml

    3. base_osmapsapi_open_raster_grayscale_wms.xml
