Using the Panning Layer Delay setting
Overview
In iShare v6, if you are having an issue with speed of redrawing the map when panning in either iShare Maps or iShare GIS, then in v6.0.8 we have introduced a new Panning Layer Delay time.
This setting has been added to the Web section in the iShare General Settings - Panning Layer Delay (ms).
If this is left to the default of 0 then nothing changes but, to speed up panning you can use this new setting to hide the Standard layers whilst you are panning and then, when you stop panning it waits for this length of time to make the layers visible again. While testing this at Astun and with customers we have found that the optimum value is about 250ms.
Step-by-step guide
Navigate to the iShare Settings
Click on the General tab
Scroll down until you see the Web section
Find the Panning Layer Delay setting and change it to 250ms
Click OK.
You will now need to restart the IIS application pools for iShare Maps / GIS for this change to take effect.
