Overview

As part of our work to keep your servers stable and secure, we are updating the automated tools that manage your nightly backups and security patches. This helps us standardise maintenance times and completely avoids the weird system issues that happen twice a year when the clocks change for Daylight Saving Time (the system skipping tasks in March or running them twice in October!).

Standard Maintenance Window

Our standard nightly Standard Maintenance Window is as follows:

• Time: 23:00 to 02:00 UK Local Time.

• What happens: The server will run a silent background data backup, apply security patches, and perform a quick reboot.

• Impact: You will experience a brief loss of connectivity during this window, so please make sure no critical tasks or data exports are scheduled on your side during this time.

💡 How to schedule your own tasks:

• Avoid 23:00 to 01:00: Please make sure no critical internal tasks, database scripts, or data exports are scheduled on your side during our maintenance window, as the reboot will interrupt them.

• Avoid 01:00 to 02:00: We also strongly recommend avoiding this hour for your own automated tasks, just to keep your scripts safe from those biannual clock shifts!

Alternative Maintenance Window

Need a different time? For most customers, the Standard Maintenance Window works perfectly. If we notice your server has a specific conflict, we’ll reach out to you directly to chat about it.

However, if your team runs critical late-night operations and you know the 23:00 to 02:00 slot won't work, we also have an alternative early morning slot available (02:00 to 05:00 UK Local Time).

If you need to switch to the early morning window, just drop a line to your account manager and we’ll get it sorted!
