iShare Languages

Overview

iShare has been enhanced to allow the user interface to be customised such as by changing the text on a button or label.  This is now far easier than was possible for previous versions.

It is envisaged that this will be used extensively for the Welsh market for those customers who have a requirement to provide their iShare instances in dual languages - English and Welsh.

At present this functionality will need to be configured by an Astun Consultant. See Configure Workspaces / Shared Services. From v5.2.6 you will be able to use the Languages Editor in Studio to enter your Language overrides.

The iShare Languages element will only allow the ability to alter the textual content of the web page NOT the data provided by the application.

Structure

All textual labels that are written on a web page are now held within a Base.xml file and referenced within the code by a specific key which in turn returns the text to display to the user.  A language file is associated with a Workspace which in turn can have one or more MapSources associated with it.

Both the languageBase.xmand language.xsl are held in the webservice\xml folder.
