Load MapInfo Seamless tables in QGIS

Load MapInfo Seamless tables in QGIS

In MapInfo you can load several .TAB files and create one seemless table. You can do the same in QGIS for Raster layers by using a Virtual Raster (Calalog).

  • Open QGIS and select Raster > Miscellaneous > Build Virtual Raster (Calalog) e.g.

  • First you need to select your Raster Layers. You can either make a Virtual raster from the Visible raster layers in the current project or you can select a series of raster files.

  • Click Select... beside the Input files box and choose your input files. In the following screenshot we are going to select some raster .tif files.

  • Click Select... beside the Output file box and enter an output filename with a .vrt file extension.

  • Click Save.

  • If you are happy with your choices click OK.

  • Click OK and OK again.
  • Click Close

By default the virtual raster layer is loaded into the project upon completion.

In the above screenshot we have zoomed in to show the map in more details but notice that there is only one Layer VMD_TQ shown in the Layers box.
